There’s just two shortened series before it’s all over. Listen to the wails of Game of Thrones fans everywhere.
Everything is very hush hush, and top secret as you’d expect, though slowly but steadily details are filtering through.
To keep you up to speed with everything that’s going to happen, and what has been revealed so far we’ve got our guide.
Beware there are minor spoilers if you’re up-to-date, and major ones if you’re so far behind people are laughing at you.
When and where will it be on tv?
July 16 Game of Thrones will return to HBO and July 17 in the UK on Sky Atlantic. It’ll broadcast at 9pm EST in the States and for dedicated UK fans it’ll air at 2am BST the same morning. It’ll repeat at 9pm on Sky Atlantic later the same day.
Normally it’s in April but we’re being mad to wait. Production on season seven was delayed so it could be shot during winter. Well, winter is coming.
This season is shorter than normal but took just as long to shoot. Apparently this is because the “size and scale” of each episode increased. Exciting.
The Great War is Here.
This is the tag line for this season. The book series is called A Song of Ice and Fire. We’re going to see these forces go head to head. The poster we’ve seen is ice with fire cutting through it.
Trailer and what fans think it gives away
The new trailer dropped recently and fans think it gives more away than you’d first think.
The dialogue-free trailer shows the three claimants to the Iron Throne – Cersei Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow taking their seats before a final shot of the Night King’s eye.
One fan on reddit FacelessGreenseer zoomed in on the eye and claims it shows seven things; a reflection of the wall with a possible crack in it, maybe hinting a White Walker leader is about to destroy the barrier between North and South.
He also claimed there was a reflection of fire along the eyelid as well as other objects reflected. Of course, this could all be rubbish. Other fans came forward claiming to see Spongebob, Patrick Stewart and a cat, so….
The teaser suggests the great war is between mankind and the White Walkers.
Daenerys Targaryen ended the last season heading west to Westeros – so maybe this is where fire comes in.
Harry Potter actor Jim Broadbent is joining the cast. He’s revealed he’s playing an archmaester. He shot most of his scenes with John Bradley’s Samwell Tarly – this could mean he plays Maester Marwyn.
